Mikan is a simple outgoing middle school girl, who has befriended the very quiet and intelligent Hotaru, but together they make quite a pair. The terminally happy Mikan and the super genius Hotaru were always hanging out together, and then suddenly Hotaru left. After six months of no letters, no phone calls and only one postcard, Mikan gets so concerned that she chases her friend down and finds her at Alice Gakuen (Alice Academy), a special school for kids with special abilities. A teacher invites Mikan to attend, but on a probationary basis. Mikan is happy that she gets to attend classes with Hotaru again, but finds herself in a class with other students who all have “alices” or special abilities. They work for an organization led by a girl named Anzelotto to protect the world against the Demon Lords' dark tribe, the Emulators (who are totally unaffected by human science). The strange bracelet Elis has owned since her childhood turns out to be the potential holder of seven magical gems and is said to enable its owner to open a gate to the demon world. This would allow the Night Wizards to counterattack them, and Elis turns out to be capable of locating the missing gems... if only things were that simple. |

In a distant future, the powerful Abh Empire is actively extending its influence and control to many of the adjacent star systems. The arrival of the genetically modified Abh and their different ways changes the life of a young human named Jinto Lin. As part of his world’s peace agreement with the Abh, his family is elevated into the noble elite of the Abh Empire, and he has trouble accepting that he is now the heir to his family’s hereditary title. His new importance as an Abh noble gets him sent off world to be schooled in the Abh language and culture, where he happens to first meet and become first-name-friends with a young Abh female trainee pilot. It is only later does Jinto come to understand that his cute friend Lafiel is really a granddaughter of the ruling Abh Empress and a royal heir to the throne. So together, they start a journey to travel to Abh capital, an adventure troubled with many difficulties which helps them realize that their friendship and trust in each other is something stronger than any imperial title or difference in race. |
